The Senior Production Technician is responsible for accurate mail production while maintaining maintenance standards on inserter machines to include daily and long-term preventative maintenance. Hours may vary based on mail volume and maintenance fix needs by management. Overtime is expected when needed. The person filling this position will primarily function as on-site technician as well as operate inserters as needed.
- Oversee production maintenance as well as taking PM (preventative maintenance) measures while documenting and tracking PM timelines and schedules.
- Follow Technical Order/Manuals when performing maintenance and operating actions.
- Create and follow preventive maintenance schedule to keep facility equipment and production equipment at peak performance.
- Diagnose issues, repair, and replace parts, test and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain parts and supply inventory cage including stock levels.
- Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production run.
- Conveys materials to or from storage or machines using handjack, electric forklift or other devices.
- Load and unload materials on/off pallets, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Use and operate tools that are specific to machines on production floor.
- General clean up and organization around the production area.
- Become trained /certified on new products as they are introduced.
- Operate inserting and folding equipment on a daily basis.
- Follow all operational and quality procedures.
- Assist in other areas of production as needed.
- Provide machine operating training based on company needs.
- This position is primarily in the field at Kansas City, MO with occasional travel to Topeka, KS location.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years background in large mechanical machinery
- Preferred experience in 1 or more of the following: mail inserters, Mailstar 400-500 model series, BB700, booklet maker, inkjet (Kirk -Rudy), folders, GB400 feeder folder, tabber, strapper, Criterion 4 Sorter presort machine, Master Mailer flats insertor machine, guillotine cutter, machine bander.)
- Fast learner and self-motivated
- Detail oriented
- Be able to work effectively without supervision
- Must be able to read and comprehend a work order/job ticket
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- This position is in a warehouse environment
- Standard & specialized office equipment is used (such as computers, phones, copier, mail machine, folder inserter, printers, sorters, etc.) as well as tool use (screw driver, clamps, drills, pliers, wrenches, etc.)
- This is an active position that requires ability to be on feet for 8-10 hours a day
- This position would require some lifting/carrying (up to 25lbs)
- Filing, bending, standing, reaching with hands/arms, using tools, etc. as necessary
